Marine Biology Simulation

In this lab you will be working through Chapter 1 of the Marine Biology Simulation (MBS) case study.

• Download the BlueJ version of the MBS case study and the Data Files folder.

   

• Read pp. 9 - 10 the MBS case study, then run the program (Exercise Set 1) and write up answers to the questions in Analysis Question Set 1.

   

• Fill in the table in Exercise Set 2 (on the handout).

   

• Read p. 11 and then write up an answer to question 1 in Analysis Question Set 2 on p. 12.

   

• Read p. 13, document your hypothesis for the question in Analysis Question Set 3, and do the exercises in Exercise Set 3.

   

• Read the first two sentences on the top of p. 14 and then run the SimpleMBSDemo1 and SimpleMBSDemo2 programs.  Then read the rest of the Chapter (pp. 14 - 17).  As you read, keep a list of the issues Pat wonders about and that we will have to find solutions to in later chapters.  (For example, Pat wonders on p. 15 whether "act" is equivalent to "move.")  Does the diagram on p. 17 address any of these open issues?

When you are finished, you should turn in the filled-in table on the handout, your answers to the questions posed in the Analysis Question Sets, and the list of issues that Pat is left wondering about at the end of Chapter 1.
